Troop Garage Sale

Good morning -

We want to remind everyone that the garage sale sign ups are up, and encourage everyone to give as much time as possible to our annual fundraiser.  Please sign yourself and your child up for 2 weekday evening shifts and also a Saturday shift.  ( A link has been emailed out already, and is also listed below). As in all prior years, it is required that all hands be on deck for Sunday breakdown and cleanup.  The more people we have, the easier and quicker it goes.  The garage sale is the sole fundraiser that makes out troop "go".  The profits are used to keep annual dues low and also to provide funding for activities throughout the year.  If your child was present at the planning meeting, you know that there are lots of exciting activities in the works for the upcoming year.  The garage sale also satisfies a very important responsibility, which is our duty to our parish.  Our parish community loves to donate to our sale and see the boys benefit.  By all means, if you have items to donate - bring them along!

We ask that the parents participate as well as the boys. We need people to price items, distribute to the tables in a organized fashion and also help out where needed.  It is actually just as important for adults to help, if not more.  This year, we are asking you to sign up as an adult scout pair.  Please use one slot for you and your scout and fill in any additional comments if needed.  The boys can use their volunteer hours towards the requirement for community service for scouts or for school.  The adult leaders at the sale have been authorized to sign off service hours required for school.  If there are older siblings that would like to get service hours, please let us know ahead of time.  We do not want kids just showing up on the day of the sale. However, we welcome the help!

FAMILY LIFE Merit Badge REQUIREMENTS

  1. Prepare an outline on what a family is and discuss this with your merit badge counselor.
    1. Tell why families are important to individuals and to society. Discuss how the actions of one member can affect other members.
  2. List several reasons why you are important to your family and discuss this with your parents or guardians and with your merit badge counselor.
  3. Prepare a list of your regular home duties or chores (at least five) and do them for 90 days. Keep a record of how often you do each of them. Discuss with your counselor the effect your chores had on your family.
  4. With the approval of your parents or guardians and your merit badge counselor, decide on and carry out a project that you would do around the home that would benefit your family.  Submit a report to your merit badge counselor outlining how the project benefited your family.
  5. Plan and carry out a project that involves the participation of your family. After completing the project, discuss the following with your merit badge counselor:
    1. The objective or goal of the project
    2. How individual members of your family participated
    3. The results of the project

Members of Troop 352 traveled to Sea Girt, NJ for the 5th NJ State Police and National Guard Camporee.  

The Chief Executive Scout was a guest speaker during the opening ceremony with over 6,000 Scouts and Scouters in attendance. 

06/09/17 - Pre-Camp Swim Test

I scheduled two dates for swim tests for Pack 352 – see the below. Troop 352 and Troop 318 are welcome to join us. Please feel free to share this with anyone from your group. Please bring cash and your Unit’s Swim Test form. Please be sure to get the correct form (i.e. Minsi, Rodney, etc.).

06/07/17 - SMD Roundtable Picnic

Hi everyone,
 
Here's a link to a flyer announcing our June Roundtable picnic which will feature a presentation on The Environment and Its Inhabitants.  All Scouters and their families are invited to this event which will take place at Louise Moore Park on Wednesday, June 7th, beginning at 6:30pm.  Be sure to RSVP by 6/5, using either the DoubleKnot link provided or via e-mail – Cub Scouters are asked to bring a side dish like salads or potato chips to share, while Boy Scouts should bring a dessert.  Don’t forget to bring along your own plates, cups, and utensils!
